Brooks’ Aviation Nursery

It is finally time to document his nursery!

It has only taken me four months and one move to do so. This is his nursery from Florida, it looks the same here in Texas, minus the rug since we now have carpet, and his nightstand because that mysteriously disappeared during the move!

Since we are renting and were only in our Florida house with Brooks for 1 month, and will only be in Texas for 5 months, (hoping our next move will be a little longer) we did not add anything permanent! Though, if we would be somewhere longer I know I would go overboard with the decorations.

Everything is hung with picture frame command strips, these things are AMAZING! We have used the picture frame command strips in all 3 of our houses and absolutely no damage has been left on the walls.

As soon as we found out that B was a boy we knew we wanted to do an aviation theme. I also did not want too much color since I loved the look of white furniture. We slowly began collecting things we loved and quickly realized the aviation theme was dark blue. It goes perfectly with the white furniture we chose (what a coincidence they are Penn State colors). We kept it simple so the pieces can easily fit and match any house we are in. Especially since he will have lived in 3 (maybe 4) by his 1st birthday! This boy better love to travel.

I found these cute aviation-themed animal prints on Etsy! They included a print release so I was able to print them to the size I wanted. I found a pack of lightweight plastic frames from Michaels and stuck them to the wall. They are probably my favorite item in his room!

We loved the simple look of the bookshelf, but thanks to our insane movers, it did not make it in one piece. If you have a bookshelf you love for your littles let me know! I am thinking something bigger now because the amount of books has already doubled and I know we will acquire more!

The airplane lamp, and wall hook in the next picture, both were Marshall’s as a kid. His mom brought them down when she visited and I loved how they looked. We couldn’t find anything similar we liked online so we got to work. They originally were every single color, but mostly red, orange, green, and a light blue. We sanded them both down and painted them dark blue to match the other decor pieces.

The cloud was a light blue and when I painted the white on top I thought it looked too fake and the paint was so thick. I was so upset. I had worked on sanding and painting the entire piece for hours and it just was not what I wanted. Marshall took it to begin resanding it for me when I saw the light blue start to poke through. I immediately stopped him because I LOVED the look of it through the white paint. We then rough sanded more spots to get the light blue to shine through. It turned out even better than I imagined! Yay for beautiful mistakes.

I saw the idea for a diaper cart on Pinterest and thought it would be perfect since we went with a smaller dresser, incase a large one would not fit in our future houses. We stocked everything we used daily for him, diapers, wipes, petroleum jelly, hairbrush, etc on the cart. It works perfectly since we don’t have to open any drawers and everything is within an arms reach.

Rowan would not let the nursery tour be complete without jumping in a picture.
